About | Volt Solar Tile
So we set out to design solar tiles that deliver on performance, design, and practicality, all built for Australia''s unique conditions. Volt is backed by Leeson Group, Australia''s leading solar innovators.
Instead of bolting bulky systems onto your roof, solar tiles integrate directly into the roof structure —combining durability, energy savings, and architectural design in one. So if you're considering solar tiles in Australia, this guide covers everything you need to know before you build or upgrade. What Are Solar Tiles?
System sizes range from 6kW to 15kW. Nulok: Offers a solar tile product compatible only with its own tile and slate roofing systems. Tractile: Known for integrating solar hot water systems with their solar tiles, increasing energy output. Tesla and Monier: Both previously offered solar tiles but appear to no longer have them available in Australia.
Solar tiles, also known as photovoltaic (PV) roof tiles, generate electricity just like traditional solar panels—but they're built to look and function like regular roofing material. Rather than being mounted on top of your roof, these tiles replace parts of the roofing surface itself.
Higher upfront cost: Solar tiles are still a niche product in Australia, and this is reflected in their price. Installing a 4kW solar tile system can cost between $6,000 and $15,700, compared to around $4,920 for traditional solar panels. Longer payback period: With average payback times of over 20 years, solar tiles are a long-term investment.
