A small-scale municipal WWTP has been tested with a micro-hydro power (MHP) plant system in Ref. However, MHP should be made to handle flow variations that are both very low and very high. Hence, it is necessary to have a complementing hybrid system that uses MHP and other renewable energy sources for WWTP.
