How to get a VAT Tax Refund in Norway
In order to qualify to request a VAT refund in Norway, you must make at least €290.00 Euros worth of qualifying purchases. This is equivalent to about NOK 315/290 in local currency, the Krone.
Within a couple of days after receipt of your invoices, you will receive a confirmation indicating the maximum refundable VAT amount. International organisations and collaborative projects that have expenses in Norway may be entitled to a refund of value added tax. Foreign providers of remotely deliverable services and low value goods are obliged to collect and pay VAT.
Applications for duty refunds must be sent to the Movement of Goods Division. Applications for VAT refunds must be sent to the Norwegian Tax Administration. must provide a replacement delivery free of charge that has been cleared into Norway, or accept that the goods are not in accordance with the purchase agreement.
There are no VAT refund kiosks currently available in Norway. In Norway, VAT refunds can be provided in cash. In Norway, VAT refunds can be processed as a credit card refund. Norway's main VAT rate is 25%, with other rates including 15%, 10% and 0% that can apply to certain transactions.
