The IP code shows how well an enclosure protects against particles and liquids. The first digit (5) indicates protection from dust, and the second digit (5) shows protection from water sprayed from a nozzle. IP55 enclosures offer strong protection against both.
While IP55 enclosures provide protection from dust and water, their suitability for corrosive environments depends on the material. For corrosive environments, choose materials like stainless steel, which offer higher resistance to chemicals and corrosion compared to other materials.
