Deploying an IoT-enabled energy management system requires investments in smart meters, cloud storage, communication networks, and edge computing infrastructure. For small-scale solar PV users, these costs can be a barrier to adoption.
The existing communication technologies, protocols and current practice for solar PV integration are also introduced in the report. The survey results show that deployment of communication and control systems for distributed PV systems is increasing.
The primary objective of this review is to examine the diversity of intelligent energy management strategies applied to PV power generation, acknowledging that system-specific configurations significantly influence their effectiveness.
