EDS 07-4060 Grid and Primary Substation Building Services
This document details the requirements for lightning protection, ventilation ductwork, sound attenuation, fire and blast dampers, and water installations at grid and primary substations.
Design, supply, installation and commissioning of 33kV UKPN Substation and associated interfacing works to facilitate the connection of 4.0 MW Solar PV generation plant. Provide a complete turnkey design solution to G81 standards for ICP:
Prefabricated substations from 200kVA to 2000kVA, 11000/433V The MDS pre-fabricated outdoor substation is delivered fully assembled in a single-lift operation, direct to site, and with its compact size, minimises the space needed for installation. It is ideal for environmentally sensitive locations.
Why does National Grid need to replace, upgrade or build new substations? The majority of National Grid's network was built from the 1950s to the 1970s, which means some equipment has been in service for more than 40 years and needs replacing as it comes to the end of its operational life.
These substation upgrades can be extensions of existing sites or can be new substations built alongside existing substations. New substations are built to connect new generation or to meet major increased demand from business and domestic consumers. Wind farms are often in remote areas well away from the existing transmission system.
