Wind Energy Infrastructure Setup and Maintenance
Before deciding on wind as an energy source, check if a wind turbine installation is permissible, if there is enough wind for a system, and then the best site for construction.
Evaluating energy needs is one of the first steps for system design. For any wind energy system, be it off-grid or grid-connected, we have some components in common: A wind turbine, tower, concrete foundation for the tower, and cable connections from the turbine to the equipment room.
Small wind energy turbines may be installed as stand-alone systems, or connected to the utility grid. Connecting to the grid requires approval of the utility. Technical and insurance requirements for interconnection vary, as do metering arrangements.
Your residential wind power system's electrical connections need careful attention during installation. Start by connecting your wind turbine to the charge controller - attach the turbine's positive and negative terminals to the matching controller inputs.
