India''s first commercially approved Battery Energy
Delhi''s Power Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday inaugurated India''s first commercially approved and South Asia''s largest standalone utility-scale Battery
BSES is working on India's first utility-scale standalone BESS at Kilokari substation in south Delhi to provide continuous power supply during outages, approved by DERC.
With a significant increase in renewable energy generation capacity, it is imperative that storage facilities are developed to help India and the world transition to clean energy. With an annual tariff nearly 55% lower than the previous benchmark, the project sets a new standard for BESS affordability in India.
Germany: Uses BESS for residential solar integration and grid balancing, enabling decentralised energy resilience. Yet even as the promise of BESS becomes clearer, scaling it across India requires more than technical readiness—it calls for robust policy, financial innovation, and regulatory clarity. And India has begun building this foundation.
NEW DELHI: In the time to come, you may get continuous electricity supply even if there is a technical fault in the power transmission or distribution system or the grid develops a snag.
