SolarEdge Backup Interface: Complete Guide to
A SolarEdge backup interface is an intelligent electrical device that automatically disconnects your home from the utility grid during power outages
A DC-coupled solar energy hub, such as the SolarEdge Energy Hub, allows solar energy to be saved in the batteries and used on-demand. The Energy Hub is currently compatible with the LG chem RESU10 battery, with up to two batteries per inverter. This high-efficiency system can provide power to your home during peak utility rate times and keep you powered during power outages.
The Energy Hub is a device that allows you to generate, store, and monitor your solar power. It ensures your home stays on regardless of what mother nature throws at you and irrespective of the power company de-energizing the power lines. The hybrid inverter connects solar panels, batteries, generator, and the backup interface.
When a power outage occurs, the SolarEdge Backup Interface, Three Phase (BUI) detects the grid disconnection and within 3 seconds activates the inverter in backup mode. The SolarEdge inverter seamlessly transitions into a backup power supply, drawing energy from the battery instead of the grid.
Just note that if you want to use your solar generators for home backup power - as opposed to their typical outdoor uses - you'll need to connect it to your electrical panel via a generator transfer switch, same as you would with a traditional diesel-powered generator.
